I think it is possible for ordinary people to choose to be extraordinary.
When we see someone doing extraordinary things, we often tell ourselves that we are not capable of such things. It is not always easy, as no one will give you recognition, nation or promotion, or a word of encouragement. However, you know you are passed all of that. After all, the hardest competitive we ever have in our life is truly ourselves. Surpassing the stands that we established for over selves in pass making little improvements in process that we set finding ways to make difference in what everyone else does.
When you are at a middle management level, you carry a very important mission of being that bridge between the executive management and the field staff. With this objective you can develop those who are good to be extraordinary as well.
Lastly, as senior leader, the expectation from you is even higher as you are. In ordinary role in the first place, you should be expected to perform at extraordinary levels at all times. You need to have a grapes of knowledge and details in order to come up with vision and strategy. You need to constantly think how you can lead by example inspire everyone you lead and win the war against your competition and create new opportunities for your company.
If any work is being done to you and you may not know single answer and detail, but you should always listen analyzed reason and give directions.
If you want to know whether someone will be successful ask them about their dreams if they sound plausible then they are not dreaming big enough.
